A snapshot of Straits Times Index

Here I showcase how a person could have profited from investing in STI ETF

In my previous blog post, I briefly mentioned about myself bringing up pointers and charts about investing in funds would have led to some profits. Now that I have gotten time to sit down and type this, I decided to post my thoughts about it.

Here I feature a snapshot of the Straits Times Index ETF from 1980s to about the same time frame the property agent showed me. From what can be seen in the graph, an investor who had been placing money since the 1980s would have made a tidy profit. This excludes the money the investor would have received from payouts such as dividends given out over the years.

The amazing story here is that there is money to be made. One needs to be measured and disciplined about it, and given a sufficiently long investment horizon (the number of years one spends investing), I would naturally be confident that anyone can earn money despite the market fluctuations.
