I saw an online rant about the state of insurance agencies/agents in Singapore. Of course I will be kaypo and post about it. This post has been added below for those of you too impatient to read my response.
Main thing is I do agree with this person. Many new graduates have been targeted in a similar manner, and I hear this as a common complaint among youths. In my time when I started out as a fresh agent, I also knew nothing about finances or wealth accumulation. It was all regurgitated responses.
So why do insurance companies still continue this practice of calling up job seekers? Apart from recruiting new agents, another aspect of this is to suss out new clients. Hey, it is a fair game. Those who reject becoming agents will eventually end up getting a salaried job elsewhere, and they will need to buy insurance right? Why not buy from an acquaintance whom they met briefly before? Haha.
