The case of missing lawyer Jeffrey Ong
Well there was this drama about a big-shot lawyer Jeffrey Ong, the managing partner of JLC Advisors law firm, who was uncontactable after $33 million dollars went missing. This is an obscene amount of money, and who knows how many others will attempt a similar feat?
There is a saying that men are susceptible to a few sins: womanizing, alcohol, gambling, money and power. Seems like this particular man has a weakness for money. To be fair, $33 million is a lot of money. Think about how many decades of work anyone will need to muster that amount! Even with investment or business, a large percentage of people will not be able to smell even 10% of that amount.
In any case, kudos to the authorities for their swift action. According to media reports, Jeffrey Ong went missing in the third week of May before he was promptly arrested by the Malaysian enforcement on 30 May 2019 and brought back to Singapore. Moral of the story is you cannot escape the long arm of the law.
