Here was another tip I was given.
It may not be the truth but there is a trend among newer insurance agents and their clients. Females like me were advised to target the male prospects (prospective clients) and likewise for the male agents. It essentially boils down to "sex appeal sells". Oh look there's even a book on this.
Look back at your own life and perhaps SO. Is your or SO's agent of the opposite gender? Naturally we would also be advised to dress to impress. The idea behind this was that the opposite sex would be less guarded when approached. Imagine if a well-dressed female spoke to a man. It seemed more often that the men would pause for at least a bit longer than females.
However, such sex appeal will only work that far. The rest is up to our opening lines and sales pitch.
Somehow I also see this same general trend with other types of sales and even bankers. BUT certain industries require a specific gender. Car salespeople tend to be more male-dominated while things like childcare teachers and principals are almost always female.
